1. Who we are
PrimeDrive is operated by PrimeDrive (Pty) Ltd, a Botswana-registered company based in Gaborone. We are the data controller of the personal information you provide while using the PrimeDrive web and mobile applications (the "Service").

2. The information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — full name, email, mobile number, password (hashed).
- Verification documents — National ID (Omang) or passport, plus a liveness selfie used solely to confirm identity.
- Listings & content — vehicle photos, descriptions, prices and any messages you send through in-app chat.
- Payment information — Orange Money / MyZaka mobile-money numbers and transaction references. We never store full card details.
- Dealer info — for dealership accounts: business registration certificate, VAT number, BURS compliance documents.
Information we collect automatically
- Device type, operating system, browser, IP address.
- Approximate location (city-level) to surface relevant listings.
- Usage data — which pages you visit, which listings you tap, how long you stay.
3. How we use your information
We use your data to:
- Operate, secure and improve the PrimeDrive Service.
- Verify your identity and prevent fraud (this is the single most important use).
- Process payments and hold funds in escrow until a deal completes.
- Send transactional messages (verification codes, payment confirmations, dispute updates) and — only if you opt in — marketing updates.
- Power AI features such as fair-price scoring and fraud detection. Models are trained on aggregated, de-identified data only.
- Comply with Botswana law, including reporting obligations under the Banking Act, the Financial Intelligence Act and the Data Protection Act, 2018.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- The other party in a deal — once you initiate a transaction, the buyer and seller see each other's first name, verification status and rating (but not your ID document or phone number).
- Payment partners — Orange Money and MyZaka, strictly for processing your transactions.
- Verification partners — accredited identity providers used to confirm your Omang.
- Service providers — cloud hosting, customer support and analytics tools that are bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Authorities — only when legally compelled, and never more than strictly required.
5. International transfers
Our infrastructure runs primarily on servers located in Cape Town, South Africa, and Frankfurt, Germany. Where data leaves Botswana, we apply contractual safeguards equivalent to the protections required under Botswana's Data Protection Act, 2018.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep your account data while your account is active and for up to five years after closure (this is the retention period required for anti-money-laundering audits). Marketing preferences are honoured immediately. Chat logs related to a transaction are kept for three years for dispute support and then permanently deleted.
7. Your rights
Under Botswana's Data Protection Act, 2018, you have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete your account (where we are not obliged to retain data for legal reasons).
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
- Complain to the Information & Data Protection Commission of Botswana.

8. Security
Passwords are hashed with industry-standard algorithms. ID documents and selfies are encrypted at rest and decrypted only by our verification system — humans on our team never see your raw documents. We run quarterly penetration tests and 24/7 anomaly monitoring on every transaction.
9. Children
PrimeDrive is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, please contact us and we'll remove the account immediately.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as PrimeDrive grows. When we do, we'll email registered users at least seven days before the change takes effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated policy.
